Story Details: The Birth and the Mission

Musa was born at a time when Pharaoh was slaughtering the sons of the Children of Israel for fear of a prophecy that predicted the end of his rule. God inspired Musa's mother to place him in a chest (Tabut) and cast him into the Nile. The chest reached Pharaoh's palace, and Musa grew up under his very eye. After reaching maturity, he fled from Egypt in fear to Midian, where he met Shu'aib, married his daughter, and stayed for ten years.

The Revelation and the Message

Musa returned to Egypt, and on his way back, at Mount Tur (Sinai), God called him, and he witnessed the first encounter between a prophet and his Lord (Kalim Allah). God gave him the two miracles: the staff that turned into a moving snake, and the white hand. He was commanded to ask for his brother Harun to be a helper to him and an eloquent speaker on his behalf. Their message was: to deliver the Children of Israel from Egypt and call Pharaoh to Monotheism.
