A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen
Saala sailun biAAathabin waqiAA
To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.
Lilkafireena laysa lahu dafiAA
[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.
Mina Allahi thee almaAAarij
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
TaAAruju almalaikatu warroohu ilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu khamseena alfa sana
So be patient with gracious patience.
Fasbir sabran jameela
Indeed, they see it [as] distant,
Innahum yarawnahu baAAeeda
But We see it [as] near.
Wanarahu qareeba
On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,
Yawma takoonu assamao kalmuhl
And the mountains will be like wool,
Watakoonu aljibalu kalAAihn
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
Wala yasalu hameemun hameema
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children
Yubassaroonahum yawaddu almujrimu law yaftadee min AAathabi yawmiithin bibaneeh
And his wife and his brother
Wasahibatihi waakheeh
And his nearest kindred who shelter him
Wafaseelatihi allatee tuweeh
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.
Waman fee alardi jameeAAan thumma yunjeeh
No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],
Kalla innaha latha
A remover of exteriors.
NazzaAAatan lishshawa
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]
TadAAoo man adbara watawalla
And collected [wealth] and hoarded.
WajamaAAa faawAAa
Indeed, mankind was created anxious:
Inna alinsana khuliqa halooAAa
When evil touches him, impatient,
Itha massahu ashsharru jazooAAa
And when good touches him, withholding [of it],
Waitha massahu alkhayru manooAAa
Except the observers of prayer -
Illa almusalleen
Those who are constant in their prayer
Allatheena hum AAala salatihim daimoon
And those within whose wealth is a known right
Wallatheena fee amwalihim haqqun maAAloom
For the petitioner and the deprived -
Lissaili walmahroom
And those who believe in the Day of Recompense
Wallatheena yusaddiqoona biyawmi addeen
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -
Wallatheena hum min AAathabi rabbihim mushfiqoon
Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe -
Inna AAathaba rabbihim ghayru mamoon
And those who guard their private parts
Wallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoon
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed -
Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeen
But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -
Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoon
And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive
Wallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoon
And those who are in their testimonies upright
Wallatheena hum bishahadatihim qaimoon
And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:
Wallatheena hum AAala salatihim yuhafithoon
They will be in gardens, honored.
Olaika fee jannatin mukramoon
So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],
Famali allatheena kafaroo qibalaka muhtiAAeen
[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?
AAani alyameeni waAAani ashshimali AAizeen
Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?
AyatmaAAu kullu imriin minhum an yudkhala jannata naAAeem
No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.
Kalla inna khalaqnahum mimma yaAAlamoon
So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able
Fala oqsimu birabbi almashariqi walmagharibi inna laqadiroon
To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.
AAala an nubaddila khayran minhum wama nahnu bimasbooqeen
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -
Fatharhum yakhoodoo wayalAAaboo hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allathee yooAAadoon
The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.
Yawma yakhrujoona mina alajdathi siraAAan kaannahum ila nusubin yoofidoon
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.
KhashiAAatan absaruhum tarhaquhum thillatun thalika alyawmu allathee kanoo yooAAadoon
