He is the head of the Syndicate of Holy Quran Reciters in Sharkia Governorate and one of the most famous reciters in the Islamic world. He was called Sheikh at an early age, and success was his ally wherever he went. He traveled throughout the world and was the best ambassador of the Holy Qur’an in his voice, knowledge, and literature. It is about Sheikh Ahmed Amer, whose full name is Ahmed Muhammad Amer, who saw the light on May 3, 1927 AD in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
During his childhood, the reciter Sheikh Ahmed Amer grew up in the Kafr Al-Asakra area in Al-Salihiya, Sharqia Governorate in Egypt. He grew up in a conservative family that cherishes Islamic values and respects scholars, as his father, may God have mercy on him, was a sheikh from the people of the Holy Qur’an.
As soon as his habit became stronger, his father enrolled him in a Quran in the village of Al-Akhiwah, where he learned the Holy Qur’an and completed its memorization before the age of eleven. After that, he studied the science of recitations under Sheikh Abdul Salam Al-Sharbasi in Dakahlia Governorate and excelled in it, before he succeeded in completing the recitation of the Holy Qur’an with the seven recitations at the age of only thirteen, which made the people of his village call him “the Sheikh.”
After his early academic success, the reciter Sheikh Ahmed Amer became famous in the Sharkia Governorate and its surrounding areas. He was the talk of the people there, and a source of their admiration and appreciation for his brilliance and talent. Always on the path to success, in 1963 AD he took a reading test on the Egyptian radio, and he passed it with distinction, but he soon moved to Sudan and Arab and international countries from Africa, Asia, and Europe, after invitations rained down on him from the Muslim communities there to read the Holy Qur’an with his melodious voice and golden throat.
As a culmination of his successful scientific path and successful professional career, Al-Muqri Sheikh Ahmed Amer received a number of certificates, awards and medals in various Arab and foreign countries, and among the most prominent of these honors is his obtaining the King of Malaysia Medal in 1972 AD, and receiving a special invitation to chair the International Holy Quran Jury Committee, which is held annually in Malaysia.
After a path full of successes and achievements, he died, may God have mercy on him, on the 11th of Jumada al-Awwal 1437 AH, corresponding to February 20, 2016 AD, at the age of 89 years. His body was buried in a solemn procession in his birthplace in the Sharkia Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
